Happy New Year to the members of the Nebraska Chapter of the CPCU Society! We hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.

It is an honor and privilege to be your President this year.  Our chapter has a strong tradition of service to our members and to our community and I look forward to working together with all of you to build on that legacy.

2018 was a great year for our chapter. We did several wonderful service projects which included volunteering at the City Mission as well as collecting and distributing donation items to our local First Responders.  We heard from many interesting speakers including our Lincoln Chief of Police Jeff Bliemeister as well as motivational speaker Aaron Davis who spoke about overcoming diversity.

The year came to a wonderful conclusion at our Christmas Party at Wilderness Ridge, with the Lincoln Continentals providing our entertainment and a short message from the Salvation Army.  The Good Works committee organized a collection where members donated coats and other winter wear, along with games and toys for the Salvation Army.  As usual, our members’ generosity showed and the event was very successful.

2019 will provide us with more opportunities to participate in service activities.  The Good Works Committee has already started planning several events where we can positively impact our community.  Look for details in upcoming meeting invitations and e-mails.

Speaking of committees, many are off to a great start already this year.  If you have not volunteered to be on a committee yet, now is a great time to consider it.  You can still volunteer.  Just contact any Officer or Board member and we will get your name to the right place.  Here are the formal committees of our local chapter:

Good Works Committee (Committee Board Liaison, Amanda Volz) – planning activities for the chapter in/for the community

Membership/New Designee Committee (Committee Board Liaison, Marne Van Dyke ) – tracking members of the local chapter, encouraging involvement, providing opportunity for recognition at chapter meetings, helping candidates to stay on track to earn the designation, coordinating new designee luncheon

Christmas Committee (Committee Board Liaison, Evelyn Loof) – planning the Christmas luncheon

Web/Public Relations Committee (Committee Board Liaison, Michele May) – keeping the chapter website up to date; taking and posting photos of chapter community events, meeting invites

Scholarship Committee (Committee Board Liaison, Gene Deyoe)– makes contact with local college student organizations to solicit for insurance-related candidates to whom we can designate funds annually

Planning for 2019 meetings is also in full swing and you can look forward to hearing some very interesting speakers this year.   Below you will find the schedule of chapter meetings.  E-mail invitations will provide more detail on the location and speaker for each meeting as it is finalized.
