Today we had the pleasure of having two representatives from a local non-profit organization called “I’ve got a name” to bring awareness to sex trafficking here in Nebraska.
It was clear that both Bryan and Megan live their mission daily; “We exist to put an end to sex trafficking in Nebraska by gathering awareness of the problem and organizing action against it.” Some of the staggering statistics Brian shared with us, was that the number of individuals that are sold within Lincoln every month is over 200, and that the AVERAGE age of a child entering the commercial sex trade is 13! He encourages everyone to talk to their friends and family about this issue, as ignorance and silence only allows this to continue.
And don’t forget, April 25th is the their annual fundraiser, Walk for Freedom 2020 “NO GIRL FOR SALE”.
The Good Works committee has partnered with Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln and their Streets Alive! Community Development Project, which promotes active living, wellness, good nutrition, and neighborhood vitality. This year, Streets Alive! is celebrating its 10 year anniversary.
The NE CPCU chapter can help make our neighborhoods strong and healthy by raising funds for the Streets Alive! Community Development Project that will benefit not only the South Salt Creek neighborhood but add to the beauty, safety, and well-being of our whole city. If we raise $1,000, we will receive permanent recognition in Cooper Park.
